Convert Speech to Text

Transcribe your voice into text in real time.

How to use the Speech to Text

  1. Allow microphone access

Your browser will ask once. Nothing is recorded until you start.

  2. Start speaking

Talk normally. Words appear as you go, and saying comma or new paragraph inserts punctuation.

  3. Edit and copy

Fix anything the recogniser misheard, then copy the finished text wherever you need it.

About the Speech to Text

Talking is roughly three times faster than typing, which is why dictation is worth the small awkwardness of getting used to it. This tool transcribes your voice into editable text in real time, so you can draft an email, capture a thought before it escapes, take notes during a call, or get the substance of an interview down without typing a word.

It uses the speech recognition already built into your browser, so there is nothing to install and no time limit. Accuracy is high for clear speech in a quiet room and drops predictably with background noise, strong accents and specialist vocabulary. Speaking punctuation aloud, saying comma or new paragraph, generally works and makes the raw transcript far more usable.

A privacy note that most dictation sites do not make: in some browsers, Chrome and Edge among them, the Web Speech API works by sending your audio to the browser vendor's servers for processing. That transfer is between you and your browser vendor and is governed by their privacy policy. It does not pass through us, we never receive your audio, and nothing you dictate is stored by this site. If that arrangement does not suit you, use a browser that transcribes on-device.

Frequently asked questions

How accurate is the transcription?
Accuracy is high for clear speech in a quiet room. Background noise, strong accents and technical vocabulary reduce it.
Do I need to install anything?
No. It uses your browser's built-in speech recognition. You will be asked once for microphone permission.
Is my voice recorded or stored?
Nothing is stored by TooleraAI. Recognition is handled by your browser's speech engine and the text stays on your screen until you copy it.
