About the PNG to JPG

PNG is the wrong format for photographs and most people only find out when something refuses their file. It stores every pixel losslessly, which is exactly right for a logo with hard edges and exactly wrong for a beach scene: the same photo can be four or five times larger as a PNG than as a JPG that looks identical. Screenshots of photos are the usual culprit, since screenshot tools default to PNG regardless of what is on screen.

Converting to JPG is what upload forms, email attachment limits and older systems tend to want. The quality slider is there because the right trade-off depends on the image — 90% is indistinguishable from the original for almost any photograph, while dropping to 60% can halve the file again on a busy image where nobody will notice.

One thing to know before you convert: JPG has no transparency. Anything transparent in the PNG becomes white here, which is the sensible default for a photo but not what you want for a logo meant to sit on a coloured background. If you need transparency and smaller files, WebP keeps both. Conversion happens in your browser, so nothing is uploaded and there is no cap on file size or count.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert PNG to JPG?
Drop your PNG into the tool, adjust the quality slider if you want to trade sharpness for size, then click download. The whole thing takes a second.
Why is my JPG so much smaller than the PNG?
PNG stores every pixel exactly; JPG discards detail the eye is poor at noticing. On photographs that difference is often 70-90% of the file size with no visible change.
What happens to transparent areas?
JPG cannot store transparency, so transparent pixels become white. If you need to keep transparency, convert to WebP instead.
